I've been writing about this very subject on my blog over the past couple of months and have had some interesting discussions with various people. What I notice is that we become so identified with our beliefs (whatever they are) that our ego takes over and we act from a very primal fear and survival-oriented place.
The questions I have are:
Why are we so attached to our beliefs and thoughts? Have we defined ourself by them? Is that who we really are? Can we be separated from our thoughts and beliefs? Who would we be without them?
I don't have any answers. I just like asking questions.

Is Faith Dangerous? A Question for Believers...
by AllTimeJeff ini hope this will be as respectful a debate as possible.
here is the premise: many of us (most) seem to be ex jw's on this board.
that means, whatever your motivation, for a time you bought into the theology of jw to one degree or another.

I just watched this as well. It was disturbing to say the least. Made my stomach turn just like watching "Jesus Camp".

DNA For Dummies
by Farkel indna for dummies.
it would be remiss of me to not state that i know absolutely nothing about dna, except that the abbreviation points to a collection of words that no one can pronounce: it means something like "deoxygenated ribo-rabid-nucleaic acid trip", or something like that.
i first heard about dna in 1964 in a high school biology class and promptly went comotose.

Beautiful Farkel. Now, I don't need to read any more Dawkins. I can save my money and spend it on more worthwhile pursuits, like buying new clothes to convince Slime 195,263,987 to mess around with me.

cult personality type?
by Mysterious inanother thing that has been intriguing me lately is the idea that cults can help sway people towards a certain personality type more towards a judging personality for example, or becoming more feeling rather than thinking.
i know my meyers-briggs type changed from istj when i was a jw to intj after i left.
i was curious if anyone else was aware of a similar shift in their actual measurable personality traits..maybe putting on the new personality is literal?

Okay, I just did the test. Here's my results:
INFJ
Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging
44 38 50 1
I found much of it to be accurate. Interesting stuff. I would say this is who I've always been. Being a jw just masked a lot of it for too long.
